Regency Friday Fun And Interview

For something a bit different this Friday, I’m visiting at RT Book Reviews with Jo Beverley, Sally MacKenzie, and Kaitlin O’Riley.  We’re talking about our new anthology, An Invitation To Sin. RT asked us to share any secrets or surprises we discovered while writing our novellas.  It’s a really fun topic – stop by and check it out!

Regency Friday Fun & Awesome Links

I’m guest-blogging today at Book Lovers Inc, talking about why I love the Regency period and giving away a copy of my new anthology, An Invitation To Sin. Stop by and join the fun!  I’ll also be at the Romantic Times blog later today, appearing with the other authors of Sin: Jo Beverley, Sally MacKenzie, and Kaitlin O’Riley.  It’s sure to be a great interview with a swell group of romance writers.  You don’t want to miss it!

As you can imagine, historical romance writers tend to be research geeks.  I have several blogs and websites I visit when looking for just the right bit of research, but two of my favorites are Two Nerdy History Girls and Patrick Baty. Patrick  runs a family paint business called Papers and Paints in Chelsea, London.  He’s an expert in the use of paint and color in historical buildings and has worked in some of the finest structures in England.  Although he specializes in the Georgian era, he’s consulted on projects as diverse as a Tudor garden and a 1950’s concert hall.  His work is simply fantastic and really fun to read about.  Patrick always includes lovely, lush photographs in his blogs, so have a look.

The Two Nerdy History Girls are Loretta Chase and Susan Holloway Scott.  Loretta writes Regency-set historical romance, and is one of my favorite writers of, well, anything.  And Susan writes wonderful historical fiction set in the time of Charles II.  These women know their history inside and out and talk about it in a very down-to-earth, entertaining way, bringing their respective periods to life.  Take my word for it–you’ll love this blog!

I’m heading over to my guest blogs, now.  Hope to see you there!

AN INVITATION TO SIN Launches Today!

It’s finally here!  Launch day for An Invitation To Sin, the Kensington anthology that I’m so honored to be a part of, along with Jo Beverley, Sally MacKenzie, and Kaitlin O’Riley. The title of my novella is The Pleasure Of A Younger Lover. It’s the story of Captain Christian Archer, career soldier and war hero, and Clarissa Middleton, a war widow who has vowed never to love again – especially another soldier.  But Christian has loved Clarissa from afar for years, and he’s determined to win her hand in marriage and her heart in love.  You can read an excerpt here.

An Invitation To Sin is available in bookstores and on line.  Check out my Books page for the links to all your favorite bookstores.

To celebrate today’s release, I’ll be giving away two copies of An Invitation To Sin. Just leave a comment letting me know why you love reading historical romance.

An Invitation To Sin: Introducing My Fellow Authors

Tomorrow marks the release of my novella in the anthology, An Invitation To Sin. There are four stories in this collection; the lead author is Jo Beverley, showcased on the blog on Friday.  Today I’d like to introduce you to the other authors in the anthology (although you likely already know who they are!):  Sally MacKenzie and Kaitlin O’Riley.

Sally MacKenzie is the USA Today bestselling author of the Naked nobility series, funny, sexy, Regency-set historicals.  As the NYT bestselling author Eloisa James said, “Naked, noble, and irresistible–who could resist one of Sally MacKenzie’s heroes?”  Her last book, The Naked Viscount, got a starred review from Booklist, and Sally’s books are published in Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, Japanese, and even Slovakian!  Clearly, readers around the world agree that the Naked books are great, sexy fun.

Sally’s novella in An Invitation To Sin is called “The Naked Prince,”  and you can read an excerpt here.

Acclaimed author Kaitlin O’Riley writes passionate love stories filled with romantic intrigue. Publisher’s Weekly had this to say about her book, When His Kiss Is Wicked:  “O’Riley’s believable, charismatic characters…set this novel well apart from the usual romance fare.”

Her latest book, Desire In His Eyes, is book two in the Hamilton sisters series.  You can read an excerpt here.

The title of Kaitlin’s novells “A Summer Love Affair.” You can read an excerpt here.

One book and all these great authors!  Stop by my blog tomorrow for the release of An Invitation To Sin. I’ll be giving away two copies of the anthology to celebrate.

Regency Friday Fun and Giveaway

You probably know by now (because I’ve been pimping it everywhere!) that my next release will be out this Tuesday, Feb. 1.  It’s an anthology called An Invitation To Sin, and I’m in it along with three other fabulous authors, Jo Beverley, Sally MacKenzie, and Kaitlin O’Riley.  I’d like to showcase those talented gals over the next few days, ending with a giveaway of two copies of An Invitation To Sin on Tuesday.

The lead in this anthology is Jo Beverley, the bestselling author of Georgian and Regency historical romance.  She’s particularly well-known for her two series, the Company of Rogues (set in the Regency era) and the Mallorens, set in Georgian times.  If you’ve not read either of those sets of novels, you’re really in for a treat.  Jo also wrote four books set during the Medieval period – much-loved by her fans – and she also has a slew of traditional Regencies, romance novellas, and even some science fiction stories to her name.

Jo has received many awards for her books, and is a five time winner of the RITA, the top award of the Romance Writers of America (RWA).  She is also a member of RWA’s Honor Roll and Hall Of Fame, along with other great authors like Susan Elizabeth Phillips and Nora Roberts.  Romantic Times called her “one of the great names of the genre,” and she regularly appears on bestseller lists, including USA Today and the New York Times.

Jo’s latest books is The Secret Duke, and her next book, An Unlikely Countess, is coming in March, 2011.   Her novella in An Invitation To Sin is called Forbidden Affections, and I guarantee you’ll love it.

The celebrate the release of An Invitation To Sin, I’m giving away a book by another fabulous historical romance writer, Anna Campbell.  Just leave a comment telling me who your favorite historical romance writers are, and you could win a copy of My Reckless Surrender.

Regency Friday Fun And Giveaway

On February 1, my novella will be released to the world!  It’s part of an anthology put out by Kensington Publishing called An Invitation To Sin, and it also contains stories by Jo Beverley, Sally MacKenzie, and Kaitlin O’Riley.  My novella is called The Pleasure Of A Younger Lover, and you can read an excerpt here.  It’s the story of a war widow who’s shut herself off from the world, and the dedicated soldier determined to win her love.

Like a lot of writers, I sometimes imagine certain actors or actresses playing my characters.  It’s a fun way to help flesh out my hero and heroine’s physical characteristics, and also more fully imagine their personalities.  For the hero of my novella, Captain Christian Archer, there was only one choice I had in mind:  Sean Bean in Sharpe.

Seriously, what’s not to love?

And since it’s Friday Fun, I’m giving away a book.  This week it’s Promise Me Tonight, by the talented historical romance author, Sara Lindsey. Just comment and tell me which actors you would cast as heroes in your favorite historical romances.
